Short biography

Talya Aydın works as a Gallery Coordinator at a contemporary art gallery located in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. She received her Bachelor of Arts in fields of Philosophy and History of Art from Vanderbilt University, class of 2019.

Aydın ran as candidate for the Turkish Parliament in the 2023 elections, being one of the first openly LGBTI+ candidates to do so within a political party already represented in the general assembly. Her campaign focused on civil equality, public and worker oriented urban design, and the feminist movement.

Talya Aydın continues her political advocacy as part of the Worker’s Party of Turkey’s Party Council, and a member of its LGBTI+ Commission. Aydın recently ran for İstanbul’s Kadıköy district’s contingent municipal parliament member. Her campaign and post-electoral focus remains on making urban spaces more accessible and safer for women, LGBTI+, immigrants and otherwise disadvantaged groups, founded on the principle of creating local policies centered around people-oriented, accessible design.
