Project description

Nienke van Heukelingen is part of a network of young Turkish and European leaders from all sectors who come together once a year to engage in intensive dialogue and to share views and ideas about topical social issues. The Turkey Europe Future Forum takes place alternately in Turkey and Germany, as well as in other European countries.

Short biography

Nienke van Heukelingen works for the European Parliament’s rapporteur on Turkey since January 2015. In her capacity as policy advisor Nienke is co-responsible for the EP Turkey report and for covering EU-Turkey relations. She coordinates the drafting process of resolutions and reports on these issues in the European Parliament, monitors developments in EU-Turkey relations and assists in the process of forming alliances with EU officials and stakeholders in order for reports to be adopted. Prior to this, she worked for a think tank called Wiardi Beckman Foundation as well as a freelance journalist for various Dutch newspapers. Nienke holds a BA in Journalism and MA in Political history.
